MTSA Conference Sponsorship

Purpose

The Michigan Transition Services Association (MTSA) Sponsorship exists for the following people who without financial assistance would otherwise not be able to attend the Annual MTSA Conference:

  • Educators
  • Parents of children with disabilities
  • Community agency representatives who work with young adults with disabilities
  • Students who are studying in the field of special education, vocational rehabilitation, or a related field

Prospective applicants must complete the following application and submit it to their MTSA Region representative.

Amount of Sponsorship

Two conference sponsorships per region. The sponsorship will cover one (1) conference registration. MTSA will not cover mileage, reimbursement for substitutes, or any additional expenses other than those listed. This is not a monetary award.

Educator recipients will be randomly selected through a drawing. Non-educator recipients will be chosen by a Sponsorship Committee in each region. Recipients will be notified via email no later than December 9, 2023.

Criteria

(Educators) Sponsorships are intended to support educators (ex. administrators, teacher, para-educators, district services/itinerant staff, etc.) who do not typically attend the Annual MTSA Conference due to limited funding.

(Educators) Applicants must be employed by a school district or ISD – not intended for ISD Transition Coordinators.

(Educators) Sponsorship recipients must have approval from administrator/supervisor and agree to attend the Annual MTSA Conference.

(Non-educators) Sponsorships are intended to support parents, members of organizations, or students who do not typically attend the Annual MTSA Conference due to limited funding. (ex. parent groups, family groups, advocacy groups, community agencies who work with youth with a disability, etc.)

(Non-educators) Applicants must be a parent of a child with a disability, a member of a non-profit organization which offers services/resources to young adults with a disability and their families, and/or a student studying special education, vocational rehabilitation, or a similar field – may not be employed by a school district or ISD.
